The Raw Deal
I looked up at the television, and couldn't believe what I saw.

It was a huge animal, walking through the snowy forest. It had legs like tree trunks, a powerful-looking snout, fangs like kitchen knives, bared right at me. Its powerful, bright orange eyes burned all through me. Fierce, sharp claws laid waste to a tree, like it was a scratching post. It was a brilliant orange and white colour, with these daring black stripes running all around its body.

And man, what this creature could do! I watched it chase down a huge moose-like thing and wrestle it to the ground! His terrific roar shook the air, even in the living room!

Questions have arisen about how it's possible that the Na'vi, the dominant indigenous species of Pandora, fourth moon of the gas giant Polyphemus, in orbit around Alpha Centauri, nearly 4 light-years from Earth, have features very similar to humans. Though they have evolved to be larger and lither, to cope with Pandora's lower gravity and the treacherous ecosystem, they have been described as a visual mix between humans, standing erect and with similar facial and anatomical structure, and lions, with a flat, catlike snout and long, tufted tail (that has a questionable use in maintaining balance). This work in progress is of Auburn the squirrel, a character previously featured here. I really like drawing him, since it's usually in such dynamic, tricky poses. This is going to be digitally inked and coloured later on, I just thought of drawing it in my sketchbook first and scanning it, since I've noticed lately that I seem to draw faster and better on actual paper.

Scrapped once the picture's finished.

Not to worry, he's being coloured even as we speak! His shirt has stripes on it! :D
